Sonny, our sweet Sonny

Before we rescued Sonny he lived chained outside in the Florida sun with fire-ant hills all around him

He was very lonely and barked a lot.

He was so desperate for a touch or a kind word.

All he wanted was someone to love and to be loved in return.

When Sonny was rescued he had Mange and Heartworm. Shortly afterward he was diagnosed with Epilepsy and Hypothyroidism. He underwent treatment for the Heartworm and received medicine daily for his Epilepsy and Thyroid problem.
Sonny became a permanent resident at Ziggy Beagle Rescue and followed Carol everywhere. He had finally received the love and attention that he had hungered for.

A few months ago it was determined that Sonny had an inoperable mass near his Larynx. This caused him to have extreme problems with breathing.
Sonny was laid to rest on July 8th 2006. We are saddened by his passing but even though he was "free" at rescue-now he can really run free. We love you Sonny

We are extremely grateful to Dr. Robert Bauman of VCA Village Animal Hospital for his compassionate care during Sonny's last months.
